NBCC UK- Network
In July 2009 the Nigerian British Chamber of Commerce in Lagos will create another landmark in its history with the launch of the NBCC UK-Network.
As an offshoot of the Chamber the NBCC UK-Network has the same bilateral business development goals. It will provide a forum for the Nigerian business Diaspora in the UK and an active interface with UK firms with existing or potential interests or investments in Nigeria.
It is a bold move prompted in part by President Yar’Adua’s message to business and the Diaspora when he was in the UK and as a practical business contribution to the process of national rebranding.
Aims and objectives of the NBCC UK-Network
The NBCC UK-Network will be a business forum and a member to member support forum serving the needs and interests of the Nigerian business Diaspora in the UK, UK business with existing or potential investment or trade interests in Nigeria where members of the forum are encouraged to create a friendly, open and inclusive community focused on the many challenges facing businesses today in Nigeria and the UK. NBCC UK will work to establishing a positive position for Nigerian business and economic development through its programme of activities and active involvement in those relevant businesses forums and media platforms.
There could not be a better time to launch an initiative that will provide NBCC members in the UK with:
- on-line member services
- a web portal within the new NBCC website
- trade missions and sectoral events
- brokerage services
- direct links to Federal and State government
- a friendly, open and inclusive community of interest
It is an initiative that has already established NBCC UK-Network as the first and only African bilateral Chamber to be in membership of the Council of Foreign Chambers of Commerce in the UK. It is an initiative by the Nigerian British Chamber intended to highlight to UK business and Government the significance of Nigerian and provide a real impetus to the achievement of the top 20 by 2020 national economic development goal.
